During the month a concert party will visit Kanglora arcd, gave an entertainment, at the invitation of the Roy. Father Hyland. The Uathohc Club have aaqiuired a movable stage, with necessary scenery and stage accessories, which will cna'bie the cmiter tain-merit section to develop their talents and* will affiord ample scope for performances, lectures, etc. It will pro<ve not the least valuable asset of this go-ahead institution. The- ordinary monthly meeting of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Particular Council was hekl on last Tuesday evening at the presbytery, Barbadoes street. The Very Rev. P'ather Le Menant des Chesnais, S.M., V.G., spiritual director, was present, and representathes of the Cathedral, St. Mary's (Manchester street), and St. Joseph's (Lytteitom) Conferences. The president) occupied the chair. Favorable repprtS' were received, from all the Conferences and encouraging accounts of the prospect of early extension in the diocese of Dunadin. >After transacting a considerable amount of routine business the meeting was closed. The Particular Council's next meeting will be held at St. Mary's on November 7. The thirty-second anniversary of St. Patrick's branch (No &2) H A.C.B. Society was celebrated on last Wednesday evening in the Oddfellows' Hall, St. Asaph street, with a card tournament and social gathering. 1 here was a very numerous attendance,, and the event proved most enjoyable. The management committee consisted of Bros. Pcarce (president) , F. Doolan, P.P.; J. McCormick, P.P. ; R. J. Evans, P.P., ; J. J. Courtney, PP., P. McDonnell, P.P. ; and Bro. M. Manr.ix (secretary). Valuable assistance was rendered by a committee of ladies consisting of Mesriames Doolan and W. Rodgers, Misses Doolan, Barnett, Dennjehy, alnd Daly. Imitations were extended to the branches at Ashburton, Kaiapoi, New Headford, and Leeston. On. last Thursday evening the Catholic Club rooms (large public ball) were crowded on the occasion of an entertainment given by the members to form a prize fund for tihe Christian Doctrine classes of the Cathedral. At* an intenal the Rev. Father O'Connell, spiritual director of the confraternity, thanked \ery sincerely the members of the club for their generous efforts, and the large audieneci for its sympathy and support. This m?rks the third successful performance given by the club members in aid of deserving objects, and a fourth 1 is to bo gnen towards the end of the month at Lytlcltrn to help the Brothers of the local Society of St Vincent de Paul in their laudable efforts to erect a hall suitalhla for the better carrying on of their work, especially the mission to Catholic seamen.
