Thd Right Rev. Dr. Kelly, Bishop of Gerald ton, returned from. Central Otago to Dtmedin on Monday evening, being accompanied by the Rev. Father MacMullau, Ranfurly. Tho devotion of the Forty Hours' Adoration began in St. Patrick's Basilica, South Dimedin, on Friday morning with the celebration of Solemn High Mass. Rev. Father Corcoran was celebrant, Rc\ . Father Coftey, Adm., deacon, an-d Rev. Father Howard, subdeaoon. The Re\ . Father Hearn (Port Chalmers) was the preacher in. the evening. The devotions were buowglht to a close on Sunday e\eninc; with procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament We regret to record the death of Mis Helena Williamson, Which occurred rather suddenly at her residence, York Place, Diintidin, on the (ith inst , at the age of 7',i years. The dec-cased lady was the mother of the late Sister Mary Dominic, the first Dominican mm profews-ed in Diwuclin. Her c'.'dest yon, Robert (now of San Francisco), was editor of this paper during its eaily days, and after his so\ erance to ta,ke up the duties of siub-'editor of the ' Otairo Daily Times ' he was a contributor for many years t»o the columns of the ' Tablet,' taking the greatest interest in its w-elfaic. Mre, Williamson was boTn in Dunmanus, Comnty Cork, and witlh her husband and two children came out to Victoria in the year 1855, remaining in the vicinity of B&sdigo until 1802, when she and her family came to Dunedin. Deceased was a most devoted Catholic. She leaivesi a family of three sons and three daughters to mourn their loss.— R IP.
