Wellington, October 9. — The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Risrh Commissioner, dated London, 7th inst. :— " The mutton market |b very dull and weak. Prices have declined. Toe lamb market is depressed and dull of sale for all lamb. The averase price to-day for I>ew Zealand lamb, Canterbury brand, is 4£d per lb ; for brands other than Canterbury 4^l per lb. The beef market Is quiet but steady, at about lant prices. The butter market if steady and prices are well maintain? d. The cheese market is firm ; Canadian, 56s to 57s per cwt New Zealand long-berried wheat, on spot, ex granary, per qunrter of 4961 b, 29* 6 1 ; New Zealand, short-bemed woeat, on bpot, ex granary, per q tart rof 49<ilb, 29d 6d.
