Donald Reid and Co., Ltd., report :—: — We held our we-kly auction sale of pram and produce at our stores on Monday. We submitted a full catalogue whioh met with a good reception from a full atteudance of buyers. Prices ruled as under :—: — <.ate. — Local stacks are not heavy, and only small consignments are coming forward fr.jtn the country. These are readily absorbed by the local trade at prices which give shippers little opportunity of Becuripg stock. Milltng oats are in fair demand, but not si keenly competed for as feed lines, all of which, fr'm A grade to inierior, have strong inquiry. We quo'e : Prime milling, Is lid to Is lljd ; good to beat ie*d, Is lOd to Is lid ; medium aud inferior, Is 7d to Is 9£d per bushel (.sacks extra).
Wheat.— Looal inquiries are almost entirely confined to choice lines (Tuscan preferred). Medium quality still finds little faront with millers, and any lin r s of this class offering for ponitire sale aie being quitted as fowl wheat. This has fair demand at quotations locally, but prices ruling leave no margin for shippers in comparison with values at northern ports. We quote : Choice millirg, 3s 3d to 3* 4d ; gtod do, 3s Id to 8s 2d ; whole fowl wheat, 2n lld to 8a ; broken aud damaged 2s 6d to 2a lOd per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — In the prasent state of the marke f , with so few going into consumption, sales cannot be forced, but, considering the quuntitiis lately imported into the colony, values are fairly well maintained. Piime Derwents hare most attention, and next in favour come good linas of Up to Dates We quote : Best Derwents. £9 10d to £10 ; medium, £9 to £9 7s 6d ; best white sorts, £8 10s to £9 ; oth^rsj £7 10s to £8 5s per ton (bags in). Chaff. — Weather conditions have not b^en favourable for cutting, and in consequence supplies have not been heavy. For prime, bright oatnn sh< af there is good demand at prices a shade in advance of late values, Mcd urn and inferior sorts have not by any meanß the same attention. We quote ; Prime oaten sheaf, £3 10 to £3 lfis ; medium to good. £3 to £3 7s 6d ; inferior, £2 10s to £2 15s per ton (bags extra). Straw. — Moderate supplies coming forward. We quote : Prime oaten, 37s 6d to 40s ; wheaten, to 35a per ton (pressed).
