We held oiut weekly auction sale of grain and produce a3 o-'.r stores on Monday. There was a good attendance of local buyers and others interested in the trade, to whom we siVbtnitted an average catalogue.

Prices ruleJd. as under :—: — Oats.— There has been keeai demand during the past week for all) mailing and good shipping lines, but ofltea:ings are so sma-11 that buyers have some difficulty in supplying/ their orders. Local stocks are in small compass, aiMi in view of present inquiries the market will probably continue tirm. Loweri grades are also inquired for, but thero are no Vjjuantities offering. We tjjuote : Primo milling, Is lOAd 1o Is lid ; good to best feed, Is 9£d to Is lOd ; inferior to medium, Is 6d to Is 1 9d per ihusfoel (sacks extra). Wheat.— There is no change to report, either in demand or/values. Prime Tuscan has most attention from millers, but for other sorts there is little inquiry. Fowl wbeat is still scarce, and orders are being gjenerallyf supplied ■ with second milling quality. We quote : Prime milling, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; good do, 3s ; whole fowl wheat, 2s lOd to 2s ll£d ;, broken and damaged, 2fj 5d ta 2s 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — Consignments, alUiou'gn not large, axe more nwrneriauß than usulal, and the market is therefore fairly well supplied. Produce merchants' report, a n'oticeail)le shrinkage in the consunnption ati pjresent viahies, and ia oonseique»yce sales of wholesale lines are not so readily effected. Derwents continue to meet with most favor,, Hit for all sorts last week's prices weretorely maintained at Monday's 'sale. We quote : Best Derwents, £11 to £11 10s ; kidneys and white sorts, £10 10s to< £11 ; smajl potatoes and medium quality, £8 to £10 ppr ton (sacks in). C'fcafl.— Th« local demand is almost entirely confined to rfprime oaten sheaf, and chaff of this class has ready sa'lo at £3 5s 'to £3 10s. Good quality has some inrquiry for shipment, and is saleable at £3 to £3 2s 6id, but medium, and inferior, at £2 10s to £2 15s per ton (-b;ag3 fextrai), are difficult to quit. Straw.— The market is bare, and good oaten worth about 35s to 40s ; wheaten, 30s to 35s per ton (pressed. Turnip®.— Supplies have slackened, 'and best swedes are now worth 13i per ton (loose, ex truck). llty — We h£>.\e> fair inquiry for 'good to prime clover and ryegrass %t £2 10s to £3 per ton (pressed).
