OBITUARY

MR. F. FOSTER, HOKITIKA.

A very old and respected member of the Catholic community (writes our H'okitika correspondent) in the person of Mr. Frank Foster, passed away on July 10, fortified by all the rites of the Church, and surrounded by his sorrowing family. Mr Foster was a native of Ennis, County Clare, and came out to Diunedin in the early •days of the goldnelds, and after a time was attracted to the West Coast. Soon after his arrna'l ,on the Coast he commenced a business at Longford, and finally removed to Hokitika. His last illness was of a very short duration, the immediate causte of death being bronchitis. The large number of people assembled from far and near to attend the funeral proved the esteem in which the deceased was held. Rev. Father Aubry celebrated a Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning, and also officiated at the graveside.— R.l. P«
