Those ' Divinity ' Degrees
Sir Maurice O'Rorke is again to the fore with his fantastic scheme for conferring decrees in ' divinity '— without the divinity. If Sir Maurice values consistency he should crown his proposal by a scheme of di;lomaed quackery in law ana medicine as well as in theology. For the life of us we cannot see why Parliament should treat one kind of • quack as fish, another kind as flesh, and a third kind as red her-
ring. 'Equality before the law' is, or ought to be, the motto of a democracy, jeven in its dealings with charlatans. And who, by the way, is to contribute the shekels for establishing a ' faculty ' for this fa'reical brand of Acfc-of-Parliament ' divinity ?' Or does Sir Mauritte merely, desire to. affirm the ( princiitte of a State Church for New Zealand ?
