OBITUARY

MR. JOHN O'LEARY, OTOKIA

It is with sincere regret we have to record the death of Mr. John O'Leary, an old and highlyesteemed resident of Otokia, who passed away on June 1, at the age of 70 years. The deceased was a native of County Cork, Ireland, and came out to New Zealand in 186.0, landing at Dunedin. After a short time spent in tne Taieri district be left for the Gabriel's Gully rush, and later on for the West Coast. Abo.it 30 years agio he started in business m Otokia, where he had resided ever since. The late Mr. O'Leary was a zealous and practical Catholic, and was greatly respected by all who knew him. His wife predeceased him about four months, and there are now left to mourn their loss a family of five sons and four daughters. The funeral was largely attended The Very Rev. Father O'Neill (Milton), assisied fey the Rev. Fathelr Liston (Holy Cross College) officiated at the graveside.— R.l. P,

MR. D. O'SULLIVAN, AUCKLAND

On Sunday morning (writes our Auckland correspondent) there passed away at his parents' residence, Mount Albert, after a long illness, a fine Cajtholic young man in the person of Mr. Daniel O'Sullivan. The deceased was born in Tralee, County Kerry, and at the age of six years he arrhed with his parents in Auckland in 1875. As a member of the Hibernian Society he filled the position of president in his branch and also of the District, and represented the N Z Distiict at the Sydney Biennial Conference. Tn the advancement of our voinj; men he was deeply interested, and much of his time was spent in their behalf. He died fortified by all the rites of Holy Church. The funeral was largely attended The coffin was borne by the District officers of the IT A.C R Society. Rev. Father Duffy, of Onehunga, officiated both in the church and at the cemetery.
