MARIST BROTHERS' SCHOOL, AUCKLAND.
His Lortiship Bi&h'op Lenihan presided at the distribution of prizes to the pupils of the Marist Brothers' Sicfaool, and in the course of a sfaort address convpliment^d the Brothers and scholars on the enjoyable programme tfhat had beqn submitted.
The annual report on school work, presented by the principal (Brother George), stated that the Bisfaop had been responsible for certain improvements to the school building prior to the opening of the school. The annual examination had been held in August and was conducted by the Board of Education's inspector, Mr. Goadwin, who f in his raport, had characterised the work done in tine different subjects as very goad, good, and satisfactory. The inspector went on t 0 say th,at the ganera)L tone, order, arid discipline, attention, and behaviour had been very good, that the oral answers had been given in a very siatfelactory style, that the written exercises had becm very neat, and that the instruction generally had been of good quality. Barly in November Inspector Petrie hail paid a visit of inspection and reported that the organisation and time-table were suitable, the met/hoids and quality of instruction very satisfactory, and the general tone and behaviour good. The Bishop then distributed the prizes, the list being as usndQr :— Campbell gold medal (presented by his Lordship the Bisdlop), lor regular attendance— Dillon Browne. Gfold medal (presented by Mr. J. J. O'Brien), for good conduct— Francis Bacon. Gold medal ('presented by Mr. A. Kohn), for highest rqarks at examination— Arthur Lees. Gold Medal (presented by Marist Brothers' Odd Boys' Association), flor dux of school— Thomas Charles. Gold medal (presented by tthe Rev. Fatjher Patterson), tor Christian doctrine— Charles Williams.
