On Friday evening the members of the Hibernian Society entertai'nefd the parishioners of St. Joseph's Ohurch at ai 'social gathering in the schoolroom. The fins t part ol lihe entertainment oonsisteld of a comcert programme, tihe fallowing items being contributed :— Pianoforte o\erture, Mis's Gai<vey ; song, ' The mighty deep,' Mr. Mcljnteer ; along, ' Call me 'back again,' Mrs. McWilliams ; qomic recitation, Mr. As,tley ; Election <Xn English qdmcertma, ' Killa-rney,' Mr. T. Kennedy ; song, ' C^ueejn pf the Earth,'' Very Rev. Father Brodie. Trip president then addressad the meeting, artd said tahat the members of the Society invited the oomgrogatioin tio be present that night to s*how Dheir res/pect and devotion fo>r tjieir parish priest, who was alsio past president of tihe Society. Everyone who had resideid a s%)rt while i n Wafhi would know that it was necessary for every wofking man to be a member of a trieiidly society. Thanks to tihe efforts of the Very Rev. Father Brodie in b^ ing started a bca,nch of tjhe Ilibe'nian Society in Waihi tihe Catholic young men oould belong to a society which conferred equal benefits to otiher societies, and where they had the additional advantage of social intercourse amongst Catholics in a Catholic atmosphere. He asked him to acco.pt a gilt from the members of St. Joseph's branch of a missal and stand, as a mark of their appreciation and esteem. The rev. gentlem<an suutably returned thanks. He said th,at thatigfh tihe branch was not yet twelve months old its success was a matter for congraflulatton.

The ceremonies m connection with tihe Forty I Hours' Adoration were oommenedd at St. Jioswp'h's Church on Sunday. The Very Rev. Father Brddie was assisted 'by Ray. Fathers Bridge (Parramatla) and Mahoney (Auckland). F,ou,r Masses were celebrated om Siunday morning, arid at the first three large numbers a-pproacihed the Holy Table. At the eig.ht o'clock Mass the members of the Hibernian Socxaty received llolv Comintmion. They were invited to breakfast in the sthqolroom afterwards, w:hen tihe chaJplain congratulated tlhem on the gioad muster. All who possibly could had attended. At 11 o'clock a Mi»s i a Cantata was celebrated by Rev. Father Bridge. The soloists wer.e Misses Power (2) and Mrs. Lawrence. After Mass there was a procession of the Blessed Sacitamemt. In the evening tihe church was q&ain ctowded. A sermon on the Blessad Eucharist was (preached by the Key. Father Mahoney. Mrs-. MeWilliams sang An ' AYe Maria.' The soloists in the e'veniing welre Mrs. Liawrence 'and Mr. Metinteer. All t'hrtough the afternoon the church was well attended by worshippers.
