THE ADDING TON MARKET.
The entries .of sheep at Addington were very small, and of rattle below the average, but, there was ;. large yarding of pigsi. The attendance was moderate.
Fat Cattle —The entry of 188 head proved sufficient for requirements, and previous rates were barely upheld. Local steers sold at £6/10/- to £10/12/6 ; heiters k at £5/17/6 to £9/5/-. This is at t|he, rate of ,22/to 26/- per 1001 b for medium to prime beef.
Fat Calves.— There was a large entry. Good vealers sold fairly well, but others were almost unsaleable. Prices ranged from 4/6 to 60/-.
Store Cattle.— A heavy ontry of all descriptions came torward. Well-fed, forward steers foiled buyers at late rates\ but there was no spirit in the demand, and stock of poor breeding and condition scarcely elicited a bid. Of dairy cows there was a, fair yarding in number, but the general quality was very poor. A pure Avrshiie c\ow sold at £8/15/-, a few .useful cows at £5/10/to £7, an»l old and inferior at £3 to £5
Fat Sheep. — The entry -was probably Uhe smallest that has been known at this season ot tlhe year, and, being insufficient for butchers' requirements, there was an animated sale, and prices were far abtxve those lately ourrent, easing considerably, however, towards the close of the sale Exporters were, of course, completely outbid Prices were as tolbow : Woolly sheep — Ewes, 22/6 to 27/-; meiino wethers, 21/0 to 22/6. Sjliorn sheep — Wethers, 20/1 to 2'A/d : ewes, heavy- weights, 21/to 25/10 ; others, 15/- to 20/-.
Fat Lambs — There was a good entry in botih number and quality, and, Vvifh keen competition by both butchers and exporters, values were fully maintained. Prime pens sold at 18/- to 20/tJ : others, 15/9 to 17/fl.
Store Sheop. —There was not a large entry, but competition w.as hnsit, especially for forward lines, and a good sale resulted. A line of 1250 wethers wajs s<old at 19/R, the buydr draft Ing a largtc number mtlo tine fat pens, where they sold at 22/- and 21/6 ; 121 mixed wethers sold at 17/3 ; 352 two-tootji wet/hers at 16/(5 ; 91 wethers and ewes at 16/!) ; 181 two i^rfld four-tlooth eves at IC/11 Ewes and. larubs, all cpunted : 06 at 13/1,0 , 351 at 13/5 ; and ffl at 12/2.
Pigs — A moderate supply of fat pigs met a rather slow sale Baconers were at easier rates, while porkers made recent \alues. The re was a large yartfilne; of stares, which Siol'd well. Bacomeis made 35/- to 57/, eqiual to 4'd tlo 4\d per \h ; porkers, 32/- tt> 40/-, equa, to 5d to s>,d per lb ; large stores. 25/- to 32/6 ; medium, 18/- "to 21/fi ; and small, 10/- to 14/-.
