Special attention is also paid to the teaching of Physical Science, for which purpose the Colege possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocall Muaie, Elocution, Drawing, and all other branches of a Liberal Edu cation receive due attention. Physioal culture is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Practice, and Gymnastics. A large and well-equipped Gymnasium is attached to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of special oars, and particular attention is bestowed on t he teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to tho C ollege is under the charge of the Sisters of Compassion, from whom in case of illness all studente roceive the most tender and devoted oare, and who st all times pay particular attention to the younger and more delicate pnpile, who without such care would find the absence of home comforts very trying. A plot of five acres is now in course of preparation for a football and cricket fjround. The College is large and commodious. It is built In brick, on concrete foundations. To secure dry ness, all its outer walls are cemented ; and to guard against fire, the inner walls are plastered and the ceilings built In steel. The dormitories are large and lofty, the class rooms well lighted and ventilated, and the baths supplied with water hot and cold. For a Boarding School, Auckland possesses unique advantages. It enjoys an immunity from extremes of beat and cold, possesses a mild and salubrious climate, £nd has scenic surroundings that have made it the iavorite city of New Zealand to reside in. The great object of the Brothers is to give their pupils & Sound Religious Training, to teach them to be virtuous, and to aocustom them to the regular practice of their religious duties, and at the same time to Impart to them a knowledge of such subjects as will qualify them for Public Examinations, fit them for commercial and professional pursuits, and enable them to discharge the dluties of their after-life with honor to religion, fcenefit to the State, and credit to themselves. Students are prepared for MATRICULATION, CIVIL SERVICE, MEDICAL ENTRANCE, and SOLICITORS' GENERAL KNOWLEDGE Examinations. The Pension is 35 Guineas per annum. THE PROVINCIAL ECCLESIASTICAL SEMINARY OF NEW ZEALAND, HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, MOSGIEL. IN conformity with arrangements made at the First Provincial Synod, held in Wellington in 1899, thia Seminary has been established for the Education of Students from all parts of NewZealand who aspire to the Ecclesiastical Stare. Holy Gross College is situated at Mua^iel (teu miles from Dunodin) iv a fiae building hitherto known as Mosgiel House, whioh, with more than 11 aore» of rich park laud surrounding it, was purohasel for use as a Seminary for tbe Ecclesiastical Province of New Zealand. Ptudents twelve years of age and upwards will be admitted. Candidates for admission are reqaired to present satisfactory testimonials from tho paroch al clergy, and from the superiors of schools or colleges where they may have studied. The Pension is £35 a year, payable half-yearly in advance. It provides for Board and Lodging, Tuition, School Books, Furniture, Beddiner and House Linen. Tha Extra Charges are : Washing, £1 10s a year, and Medicine and Medical Attendance if required. Students will provide their own wearirg apparel, including tha Soutane, as well as Surplice for assistance in Caoir. The Annual Vacation begins on the 15th of December and ends on the 15th of February. The Seminary is under the patronage and direction of the Archbishop and Bishops of New Zealund, and under the immediate per* Bonal supervision of the Right Rev. Bishop of Dunedin.
