NEW ZEALAND: GENERAL
We have this week received some unsigned correspondence from Auckland and elsewhere, and direct attention to our standing editorial intimation that all such communications are consigned, unread, to tihe wastepaper bosket.
At an enthusiastic meeting of parishioners held here last night (telegraphs our Greymouth correspondent), the tender of Mr. Thos. Bell, Greymcuth, for building the itower and steeple of St. Patrick's Church, at a cost of £16j00, was accepted. Work will commence forthwith. The greater part of the money is in hand, and the- remainder was at once guaranteed at the meeting.
The deaih is 'announced of Father Yaudin, of the MoaJiee Seminary, at the age t>f 80 years. Deceased came to the Colony about 30 yeahrs ago, and after being engaged in parochial work at Lower Hutt, Kaikoura, and Rangiora, went to Hawke's Bay and took ut) his residence at Mie Meanee Seminary. He was held in high esteem and veneration. The funeral took place on Tuesiday morning and was very largely attended, there being presttnt priests from various parts of the archdiocese of Wellingtom.—R.l.P.
