At the Dunedin Horticultural Society's spring show on Wednesday, Mr. J. J. Woods (siays the ' Tuaptflca Times '), one of our leading local horticulturists, had one or two brilliant successes. His first and most notable triumph consisted in carrying oft the Barr Cup competition. This was a silver 'daffodil cup or vase, valued at £7 7s, tor the best collection of cut daffodils (polyanthus narcissi excluded), to comprise 40 distinct \arieties Mr. Woods showed a unique collection of superb biooms, including such varieties as King Edward v'JI., Glory of Leyden, Madame de Graafe, Captain Nelson, Sharman Crawford, J. B. M. Canim, Gloria Mundi, and Baroness Heath. The flowers are described as being in first-class condition, and the display would have been hard to beat anywheie in the Colony. In the open class lor is namssi Mr. Woods also secured pride of place and was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's silver meda3.
