BARRY— BYRNE.
A very pretty wedding (writes a correspondent) was solemnised at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dunedin, on Tuesday August 4, by the Rev. Father Murphy. The contracting parties were Mr. P. J. Barry, of the Railway Department, eldest son of Mr. Thomas Barry Greyruouth, and Miss Margaret A. Byrne, eldest daughter of Mr. Patrick Byrne, Kumara. The bride was attended by Miss Mary Barry, • sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, and Mr. J. Sweeney, Dunedin, acted as groomsman. The bride, who was given away by Mr. J Ryan was charmingly attired in a dove-colored costume with white silk vest and hat. The bridesmaid was prettily and becomingly dressed in coronation blue cloth with vest of blue satin, covered with Parisian lace, and black pioture hat, and wore a handsome ring, the present of the bridegroom. After the ceremony the bridal party drove lo the residence of Mrs. N. Dougherty, Rockmont terrace, where the wedding breakfast was laid. In the evening a supper and dance were given. The presents were useful, valuable, and numerous, a set of gold sleeve links being the gift of the bride to the bridegroom On the previous day Mr. Barry was met at the Dunedin railway station by a number of his fellow-employees and presented with a beautiful clock, suitably inscribed, a biass railed fender and irons, and a handsome reading iamp, as a token of their esteem and regard. Mr. Duncan, station master, made the presentation on behalf of the donors. Mr. Duncan referred to the high esteem in which Mr Barry was held by his fellow-employees as evidenced by the handsome presents they had given and concluded by wishing him happiness and prosperity in the new state into which he was about to enter. Mr. Barry suitably and feelingly responded.
