ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.

There was a better supply of stock at Addington market to-day, and a good attendance of buyers. Notwithstanding the apparently ample market the exceptional firmness that has characterised all classes of stock was again noticeable, and prices, particularly for fat sheep, showed a further advance.

Fat Cattle.— The entry of 240 head included a few first-class lines and a proportion of inferior quality. Butchers competed keemly for prime and, in consequence, had to pay at the rate of from 30s to 35s per 100 ft for best beef, though inferior was obtainable from 25s to 30s per 1001 b. Steers realised £7 10s to £16 15s ; heifers, £6 18s to £13 ; cows, £6 10s to £13 10s. Fat Sheep.— A heavy yarding, and the high price lately ruling was more than maintained. Export buyers keenly competed with butchers for prime wethers, securing the bulk of the entry at an advance of from Is to 's 6d per head on last week's rates. A similar firmness was noticeable in regard to ewes. Nine magnificent Shropshire Down wethers from Acton, estate realised from 65s to 67s 6d. A small pen of crossbreds from the same estate realised 42s each. The range of prices was : Prime freezing wethers, 20s to 28s ; extra heavy, 42s to 46s ; special, 65s to 67s 6d ; lighter, 17s to 19s ; merinos, 18s lid to 21s 7d ; lighter, 16s 9d to 18s 9d ; prime ewes' 23s 3d to 27s ; lighter sorts, 44s to 22s 6d. '

Fat Lambs.— lo2o penned ; 40 were this season's lambs, and evoked keen competition. Prime brought 18s 9d to 275, others 12s 3d to 16s 9d. Other prices were : Tegs, 18s 9d to 21s 6d, and for extra heavy 30s 6d ; freezers, 15s 6d to 16s 7d ; graziers' lines, 14s,
