HOWLING— O'CONNELL.
On Monday. June 1, Mr. William Dowlhvg, second son of Mr. John Powling, a well-known and highly-respected resident of the Hyde district, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony in St. Patrick's Basilica, South Dunedin, to Miss Kate O'Connell, second daughter of the late Mr. Anthony O'Connell, of Naseby, the ceremony being performed by the Key. Father Cofley. After the ceremony the wedding paity lepaited to the residence- 01 the bride's mother, Princes street south, where the wedding breakfast was laid, and at which the Key Father Coffey presided. Mr. J. J. Ramsay, an old friend of the bridegroom, proposed the health of the newlymarried, pair, paying a \ery high tribute to th< 1 character of the bridegroom, whom he had known from boyhood as ix first-class fellow and a good citizen He congratulated Mr. Bowling on the step ho had taken and the choice, he had made, and concluded by wishing the happy couple long life and a prosperous Yutuie. Quite a number of ornamental and useful presents were made to the bride, who is deservedly popular, and after the breakfast the happy pair departed for the north on their honeymoon trip, taking with them the best wishes of their * many friends.
