A pleasant social was given in honor of his Loi dship Bishop (! rimes by the parishioners of Waimate on Monday evening The schoolroom was prettily decorated for the occasion vviih pictures, drapings, etc The Rev Fathers Regnault. Aubry. and O'Connell, together with a large number of parish toners, were present. Cards, ping-pong, and various other games were indulged in, and all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves During the e\ening sones were given by Mrs .1 T. Quinn, Miss Kent, Key. Father O'Connell, and Messrs. CJoldstono. Evans and O'Shca. whilst the music was supplied by Miss Akhnrpt and N Wall (piano), and Miss Sinclair and Key. Father Aubry (\iolins). During the evening the Key Father Regnault presented his Lordship with n cheque for £27, it being part of tho sum of £0,0 collected since last October in sixpences in aid of the Cathedral building lund. ll is Lordship thanked the parishioners for their handsome contribution, and expressed the hore that \ erv shoitly a sufTicient sum would be available to open the church free of debt. Supner was then pat taken of. which was kindly seen to by Mesdamos Healv and Lundon. After the supper Mr McDermott thanked all those who had assisted towards tho success of the social The sincing of ' Cod Save the King ' and ' Old Lang Syne ' brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
