Export buyers competed keenly for wethers, and also for ewes suitable for freezing, the former showing a slight rise in values, while ewes were firm at last week rates. The range of prices was : Wethers, extra heavy, up to 275; freezing, 17s 6d \°r 9^, ; x3 h i' 15s 9d to 17s ; aethers and maiden ewes, 15s 9d to 17s fld ; ewes (freezing), 12s to 16s ; butchers' do, Bsi9d to 16s 10d ; extra heavy, 17s lOd to 19a 9d • merino, 5s to 7s 3d. * ' Fat Lambs.— Of the 1350 entered a large proportion were not thoroughly prime. The market all round was easier, though for best freezers it hardened slightly towards the close of the sale. Freezers realised 12s to 14s 9d ; butchers', 10s 3d to 15s 3d Pigs.— The entry was "smaller than usual, but the demand was correspondingly poor. In consequence of several of the larger buyers having a large shipment of North Island pigs due to arrive next day, the sale was a very dragging one in all classes, and several lots were passed. Baconers brought from 39s to 635, equal to 5d to s£d per lb ; porkers, from 30s to 38s, equal to from 5d to ssd per Tb ; stores, 18s to 28s ; slips, 10s to 15s ; weaners, 6s to 10s.
