The third annu^l meeting of the Cathedral Building Committee was held at St. Patrick's Hall, Wellington, oa Sunday, June 1 There was a large, attendance, Hia Grtce Archbishop Redwood presided. The trustees presented an audited balance-sheet showing the receipts and expenditure for the 12 a ont ha ending April 30 li) 02. This was read by the hon. treasurer of the fund, Rev. Father O Shea. Ihe net, receipts for the year were £1188 14s Bd' and the total ast.-tn £ti3715 18d 3d, £4281 of which arelplaced on deposit, bearing five per cent, interest. The Very Rev Father Lewis, V.G., was appointed an additional ex-, ffioio trustee and member of all committees. As two of the peven trustees retire annually an election was held to fill the vacancies and resulted in the return of Mr W. C. Gaeeoigne (re-elected) and the Rev. Father 0 Shea. Mr M. Kennedy, chairman of trustees, speaking as to the collection of instalments, sa>'ct, the progress of the collection had been interrupted by Father Ainsworths departure for Europe and by the time of his return to the Colony, it was found that the enthusiasm had cooled somewhat and hence the receipts for the year were not as large as might be- expected. His Grace the Archbidhop ttated that there were many reasons to account for the falling off in the payment of subscriptions. There had been numerous calls on the parishioners throughout the archdiocese, besides which there was the great fall in the prioe of wool which had prevented many in the farming districts from fulfilling their promises. His Grace also informed the meeting that Father Ainsworth was now collecting in Weatport and the collecting there was proceeding satisfactorily. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to his Grace for presiding.
