We have been unable to insert a communication from Waimate, as it waa not accompanied by the name of the writer as a guarantee of good faith. It is understood that the Government intends to give local engineering firmß an opportunity to tender for the construction of a steamer capable of carrying 1000 passengers for Lake Wakatipu.
