DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and; Co. report' as follows :— We had a large enfry for our sale to-day, about 70 of all descriptions being entered. In the draught class there were about 12 good, useful mares and geldings, two of wtfrich (on account of Mr W. Mason, of Middlemarch, and both aged) realised£37 and £35 10s respectively,- and a really good three-year-old filly from the south fetched £50 ;, two or three! more aged horses so#d at from 1 £25 to £30. We also offered, on a<cco.unti of the Department of Agriculture, nine remounts, which sold at from £8 to £11. A few spring-carters were offered;/ 1 and sold at from £18 to £25. The entry consisted principially of hacks and ligjht harness horses of a very inferior descripjtaon, and which were hard to deal wnth ati almost any money. Consignments of yoiung draughts, van, anfi spring-barters from tlie country are in good demaind, and we have every confidence in recommendi'nlg/'C.ornsiignments of these. "We quote : Superior young draught geldings, £40 to £50 ;, extra go.od prize horses, £60 to £70 ; medium dra,u,gjht mares an/d gel/dings, £35 to £40 ;p,ged draught mares aoid geldings, £25 to £35 ; upstanding carriage horses, £27 to £32 ; well-matched carriage. £airs, £65 to £80 ; strong spring-van horses, £20 to- £25 ; milk-cart and butchers' oivder-cart horses, £16 to £22 ; tram horses, £14 to £18 ; .ligiht hacks, £10 to £12' ;, extra good hacks, £18 to £25 ;' weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, £2 to £5.
