ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
At the Addington stock market there was on the whole keen competition.
Fat Cattle.— 157 were yarded, mostly good sorts. There was a rise of 10s to 12s per head. Beef brought 19s to 245,, and uip to 26a for extra quality. Prime heavy steers brought £9 to £11 12s 6,d ; others, £6 to £8 10s ;» prime heifers £8 17s 6d to £9 17s 6d ; others, i-5 15s to £8 ; prime cows, £8 10s to £9 15s ; others, £5 2s 6d to £8 l<at Sheep.— About 4000, including more wethers than usual, were offered for sale. Export buyers competed keenly, and also buying good ewes, which rose Is to Is 6d. Prime wethers made 15s 6d to 17s 6d ; lighter, 13s 6d to 15s ; prim© owes, from 15s 7d to 16s lid ; good. 12s 6d to 15s • others, 9s 6d to 12s.
Fat Lambs.— The total >br ought forward was 880, mostly of good quality. There was a rise of from 6d to 9d per head. Six hundred were sold for export at from 10s 6d to 14s, averaging 12s 9d ; 200 went to butchers at 8s 9d to 10s 8d Store Sheep.— l6,ooo, mostly from Nelson, were offered for sale, and there was a good sale for all sorts; especially for forward wethers and young ewes. Forward wethers brought from 12s to 13s 7d ; medium, 10s 9d to lls 9d ; backward and small, 8s to 10s 3d ; good young ewes from 12s 9d to 13s Id ; fair sorts, 9s 2d to 10s 6d ; aged, 6s 6d to 8s Id ; forward lambs, from 7s to 8s 5d ; backward, 6s 6d to 8s Id ; shorn, 4s.
Pigs. — 560, including some good lots, were placed in the fat pens. There was an improved sale for these, porkers being scarce, and largo stores were kept up by a southern buyer, rjut little pigs were unsaleable. Baconers brought from 30a to 47s 6d, or 3d to 3§d per Ib ; porkers, from 24s to 31s, or 3|d to 4td per 1b ; strong stores, 12s to 235.
