PRODUCE.
London, February 14.— The English and American wheat markets are firm, but inactive ; Continental dull ; France weaker. Cargoes dull and unchanged, buyers holding off. Butter very firm : Colonial, 110s ; occasional lots, 112s. The demand for secondary sorts continues. Danish from 116s to 118s. Rabbits firm, 9d to 9£d. Hares are dull a few sold at Is 4d to Is 6d. Wellington, February 16. — The Agent-General's cablegram, dated London, 15th, reports : — ' No alteration in the butter market since last week. Average price to-day : Canterbury lamb, s£d, market weak. Australian in large supply. No alteration in the beef market. Stocks of New Zealand on hand light. Butter, Ills, market very firm. No alteration in cheese.
Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. report as follows :—: — Oats. — We offered a fair selection of medium to prime quality, but as bidding was slack only a few lots were disposed of. We quote : Prime milling, 2s s£d to 2s 6d ; good to best feed, 2s 4d to 2s 5d ; medium, 2s Id to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat. — Prime milling samples are in fair demand at late values. Medium quality continues to find buyers as fowl feed. We quote : Prime milling 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; medium and fowl feed, 3s to 3s Id per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — There are still fair samples offering, and prices are about on a level with those of last week. We quote : Best freshlypicked, £2 2s 6d to £2 7s 6d ; others, to £2 per ton (sacks in). Chaff. — The local demand is confined almost entirely to best quality, with which the market is now more fully supplied. Medium quality is out of favor and difficult to quit. We quote : Prime oaten sheaf, £3 12s 6d to £3 17s 6d ; medium to good, £3 to £3 10s per ton (bags extra).

Retail—Fresh butter, 8d ; butter (factory), pats, Is, bulk, Is ; eggs, Is per doz ; cheese, 6d to 7d ; bacon (rolled), 8d ; hams, lOd ; potatoes, 4s per cwt ; flour : 2001 b, 18s 6d ; 501t>, 5s ; oatmeal, 501 b, 7s 9d ; 25rt>, 4s ; pollard, 7s 6d per bag ; bran, 4s 6d ; chaff, 2s ; fowls' feed, 3s 6d per bushel.
Mr. F. Meenan, King street, reports : — Wholesale prices only — Oats : Feed, fair to good, 2s 5d to 2s 7d ; milling, 2s 7d. Wheat : Very scarce. Milling, 3s 2d ; fowls', 3s 2d. Potatoes : New Oamaru, £2. Chaff : Inferior to medium, £2 108 to £3 5s ; good to best, £3 15s to £4. Straw : Loose, 32s 6d ; pressed, 30s. Flour : 2001 b sacks, £8 5s ; 50IT>, £9 ; 251 b, £9 5s ; Oatmeal: 25K>, £14. Butter: Dairy, 6d to 8d ; factory, 9Jd to lOd. Cheese : Dairy, 4id ; factory, sd. Eggs, Is. Onions : Melbourne, new, £6 10s.
