DUNKDIN HORSE SALETARDB. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows • Saturday's Bale was a very tame affair. Very few horses came forward, and consequently practically no business was done. The only entry calling for special notice was a nuggety pair of grey geldings, syrs and 6yrs old respectively, from South Canterbury suitable for spring dray or very light lorry work. For these there was good competition at up to LBO for the pair, but, as the vendor expected the value of the heaviest and best cart geldings, no sale was effected. We have inquiries for extra heavy and active young draught geldings, also for useful harness horses and good ' remounts ' all of which clasnes would sell well in this market at the present time. We hold a special sale at Dunback on Tuesday. We quote : Superior young draught geldings, L 45 to LSO ■ extra good prize horses, L 52 to LfiO ; medium draught mares and geldings, L 32 to L4O ; aged do, L2O to L3O ; upstanding carriage horses, to L 25 L3O ; well-matched carriage pairs, L7O to LBO • strong spring-van horses, L2B to L 35 ; milk-cart and butchers' order-cart horses, Ll6 to L 24 ; tram horseH, Ll2 to L 18; light hacks, L 7 to Ll2 ; extra good hacks, LlB to L 25 ; weedy and aged hacks and harnesa horses, L 2 to L 5.
