There was an average attendance at the Addington Yards, but to a large extent it consisted of those who were prevented by showery weather from prosecuting their harvest work, and, with large supplies and indifferent bidding, values had a disposition to weaken. The entries comprised 448 cattle, 1.1.(531 sheep, and iil 7 pigs. Fat Cattle — The entry of 214 head was chiefly made up of heifers and cows, and the yarding as a whole was of mixed quality. The demand was dull, and withdrawals were large. Some of the best beef sold privately. Prime beef sold at the rate of 18s to 20s per 1001 b ; medium, 16s to 17s ; and inferior, from 10s. Per head, steers fetched L 5 12s 0d to L 8 and h'J ; heifers, L 4 2s 6d to L(» 7s tid ; and cows, L 3 10s to L 6 7s 6d, and one at L 8 ss. Fat Sheep — The sale opened well, but the entry consisting mostly of ewes, competition and prices fell off towards the finish. Wethers fetched from 14s lOd to 17s (5d ; maiden ewes, to los 6d ; butchers' prime ewe*, los to 14s lid; others, from lla ; merino wethers, 10s tid to 1 Is M. Fat La.aibs— Heavy weights, 13s (3d to 13s 9d ; prime freezers, lls lid to 12s 7d ; others, from 10s Bd. Store Sheep and Lambs — The largest entry of the season. The sale opened well, but buyers not being numerous bidding fell off, and the latter part of the entry met a dragging demand. PIKS — A large entry, especially of stores, and, with the limited competition, prices receded all round. Prime baconers bold at 3d per lb, and porkers 3Jd.
