McColl, an early arrival in New Zealand, died here on Sunday last. His funeral took place on Tuesday, when the Rev. Father Holley officiated.— R.l.P. The Rev. Father Ginisty, S.M., of St. Patrick's Church, Sydney, arrived on Thursday. He is to preach the Retreats for the Priesti of the Archdiocese, the Sisters of Mercy, Wellington, the Marist Brothers at Stoke, and the bisters of St. Joseph, Wanganui. The following pupils of the Sisters of Mercy at Palmerston North passed the Royal Academy of mußio examination: — Local Centre, higher division, (singing).— lsabel Oliver, Marion Wallace, and Clare Campion. Junior (piano). — Clare Campion. Elementary.—Evelyn Rawlins. At St. Joseph's Church on Sunday last the Saorament of Con* firmation was administered by his Grace Arohbiahop Redwood to over 100 children and adults. The Mass was celebrated by Yen. Archdeacon Devoy, and an appropriate sermon was preached by his Grace. The Fabian Dramatic Club had been somewhat unfortunate in their choice of dates for the production of 'Caste.' The Bland Holt Company concluded their season on Wednesday, and an amateur performance on the following evenings required a greater

drawing power than the Fabians can yet command. The Opera House was only fairly well filled at the two performances. The various parts received careful treatment from the performers. The Rev. Brother Mark, M.A., and the Marist Brothers entertained the memben of the Old Boys' Association in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening. Songs by Messrs. A. W. Smith, M. Eller, H. Gamble, C. Gamble, North, and J. O'Brien, and recitations by Messrs. J. Hyland, W. Naughton, and McDonald contributed to a most enjoyable evening. In the course of the proceedings the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy took the opportunity to congratulate the Brothers on the greatrprogress the school was making as shown in the report of the Education Board's Inspector. Another old colonist in the person of Mrs. Browne, the wife of ex-Police Inepeotor Browne, passed away at Kilbirnie on Thursday. The deceased lady was well-known throughont New Zealand, and in her last moments was attended by an old friend, the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy, who administered ths last rites of the Church. A Requiem Mass was said by the Yen. Archdeacon Devoy in St. Joseph's Church this morning and the funeral service? at Karori were conducted by Rev. Father Servajean. — 8.1.P,
