The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report as follows :—: — Wheat — Market unchanged, prime milling is saleable at late rates, but medium being in over supply millers decline to purchase. Quotations — For northern be«t velvet, 4s 6d to 4s i)d ; best northern Tusjan, 4s 3d to 4s r>d ; medium Tuscan and velvet, nominal, say, 3s 91 to 4s ; best red wheat. 4s to 4s 3d ; inferior and fowls' wheat, 2s 6J to 3s Gd (ex store, sacks weighed in. terras). Oats — The market has assumed a more satisfactory tone, and prices show an advance of Id to l£d since last reporting. Prime milling are worth Is 10£ dto Is lid ; best bright stout feed, Is 9.} d to Is 10d ; medium, Is 8d to Is 9d ; inferior, Is 5d to Is 7d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley — There are no stocks on hands ; quotations nominal. Grass Seeds have no attention of any consequence, merely a retail business being done. Quotations — For besi dresbed ryegrass seed, 3s 3d to 3s 9d ; extra do, 4s to 4s Gd ; large coarsa seed, 2s to 2s 01 (ex store, sacks extra, net). Cocksfoot— Best dressed, 4 .jd to s*d ; medium, Id to 4£d per lb (ex store, sacks extra, net). Chaff— Market steady, best fetching L 3 5s to L 3 10s ; extra prime, L 3 12s 6d ; medium, L 2 15s to L 3 per ton (ex truck, sacks extra, net). Potatoes — Old Derwents are unsaleable except at pigs- feed pricas, say from 3s to 15s per ton (bags in). Sheepskins — Competition is less animated, but prices show little difference, good to best dry crossbreds fetching 4d to s£d ; medium, 2id to 3^d : dry merino, 2d to 4£d per lb ; best green crosbbreds, 4s 3d to 5s 3d ; extra heavy, 5s Gd to 5s 9d ; medium, 3s Gd to 4s. Rabbitskins— All coming forward are readily taken up. Prime winter grey (mixed) at Is l£d to Is 2.} d ; selected does, Is 2^'d to la 3ijd ; medium, lOd to Is Id ; summer and off-seasoa, 3d to Bid ; suckers and inferior, Id to 2'd per lb. Hides are in good demand. Extra heavy, 70 to lOOlbs, 3Jd to 4d ; 60 to 70lb«, 3d to 3£d ; 36 to GOlbs, 2jd ; 43 to SGlbs, 2]d ; 38 to 45lbs, 2|d ; 30 to 381bs, 2d ; inferior, l£d per lb. Tallow and Fat— Best country rendered, 13s Gd to 13s ; medium, 10s 6d to 13s ; rough fat best mutton caul, 4s Gd to 10s ; medium, 7s 9d to 9s 3d ; inferior, 8s to 8s Gd per lb (ex store, vet). Messrs Donald Reid axd Co. report that prices ruled as under at their auction sale ou Monday :—: — Oats — We submitted a small catalogue of medium to good feed sparrowbills. A better demand was evident, an 1 the catalogue was cleared under good competition. We quobe — Prime milling, Is lOd to 2s ; good to best feed, Is B}d to Is 9£d ; medium, Is 7d to Is 8d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat — Prime milling is in demand at 1 ite quotations. Medium quality receives little attention, and fowl wheat is saleable a t for whole wheat 3s 3d to 3s Gd ; broken, 2s Gd to 3s par bushel (sacks in). Potatoes— We sold best Derwents at 15s to 20s ; others, 10a par ton (sacks in). Chaff — We offered several trucks of medium to good quality. There was fair competition , and values were quite up to those current last week. We quote — Bejt oaten Bheaf, L 3 5s to L 3 10s ; medium to good, L 2 15s to L 3 2s 6d per ton (bags extra). Messrs. Stronach Bros, and Mokris report as follows :—: — Fat Cattle — 194 head yarded. There was good competition for prime cattle at last week's rates, but medium sorts were dull of sale
and values lower. Best bullocks, L 8 10s to L 9 15s ; good, L 7 10a to L 8 5s ; medium, L 6 to L 7 os ; best cows, L 5 to L 6 12s 6d ; medium, L 3 10s to L 4 17s 6d ; inferior, L 2 to L 3 ss. Fat Sheep— 3s63 penned. Owing to the large entry price* showed a drop of Is 6d to 2s a head compared with last week. Best crossbred wethers sold at 14s 6d to 15s 9d ; medium, 13s to 14s; light, 11s 6d to 12s 6d ; do shorn. 9s to lla ; best crossbred ewes, 12s 6d to 13s ; medium to good, 10s to 12s ; do shorn, 7s 6d to 10s. Lambs — 527 penned. The demand was fair, but was slightly lower than last week. Best lambs sold at 10s to 11s 3d ; others, 7s to 9s 6d. Pigs — 108 forward. There was a great demand, and prices were higher for all classes of pigs. Suckers sold at lls to 15s ; slips, 16s to 20s ; stores, 21s to 27s ; porkers, 28s to 33s ; light baconers, 35s to 40s ; heavy do, 46 sto 525. Rabbitskins — The demand still keeps up, and all offering are eagerly competed for, and prices remain firm. Sheepskins — We offered a very large catalogue to-day when bidding was brisk and late values well maintained. Best green crossbreds fetched 5s to 5s 9d ; medium to good, 4s 4d to 4s 10d ; do. merinos, 3s to 3s fid ; best dry crossbred?, 4s 6d to fis 6d ; medium, 3s to 4s 3d ; do. merinos, 3s fid to 4s 2d ; medium. 2s 6d to 3s 3d ; pelts, 4d to Is ; lambskins, 6d to Is 6d each. Wood — Any small lots offering locally meet with good competition. Our first sale will be held on Tuesday 2 1st December, and wool intended for this sale should be in store not later than Thursday 1 6th December. Hides — Market firm. Best heavy ox, 3^d to 3|d ; medium. 2Jd to 3d ; light and inferior, l^d to 2£d per lb. Tallow — Market steady. Best rendered, 13s 6d to 14s 6d ; medium, 11s fid to 12s fid ; rough fat, 8s to 10s 6d per cwt. Whtat — There is a fair demand and prices remain unaltered. Quotations : Prime milling velvet, 4s (id to 4s 8d ; medium, 4s 3d to 4s 5d ; prime Tuscan, 4s 4d to 4s (Jd ; medium, 4s 3d to 4s s.}d ; fowl wheat, 3s to 3s 8d per bushel (ex store, sacks in). Oats— There is a better demand for all sorts and prices show some improvement. Quotations : Prime milling, Is lOd to 2s ; good to best feed, Is BJd to Is 9.} d ; medium, Is 7d to Is 8d per bushel (sacks extra). Barley — Market unchanged. Chaff — The market remains firm at last week's rates. Prime oaten sheaf, L 3 5s to L 3 10s ; medium to good, L 2 15s to L 3 2s 6d per ton (bags extra). Potatoes — Practically no demand. Derwents, 10s to 20s per ton.
