The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, report as follows :— Wheat —The demand is confined to best milling and fowls' wheat. Medium can hardly be placed, except at the price of the latter. Quotations for prime milling Tuscan and velvet, Is (Id to 4a 8d ; medium, nominally, 3s Od to Is lid : inferior and fowls' wheat. 2s 9d to 3s (id (ex store, sacks weighed in. terms). Oats —This market is quite void ot animation and any sales made are at lower prices. Best milling fetches Is !>d to Is lod : heat bright feed, Is Sd to Is i)d ; medium. Is. 7d to Is 7]d ; inferior. Is -id to Is C.d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley —No sales of any importance passing. Quotations nominal. Grass Seeds —Market quiet. Quotations for best-dressed ryegrass seed, 3^ oil to 3s '.Id ; evtra prune, 4-, to l-> 3d : coarse grown, 2s to 2s (id (ox store, sacks extra, n.'t). Cocksioot —Be-.t dre->-ed. in retail lots, IJdtooJd; medium.-Id to I\d pr lb (ex store, sacks extra, net). Chaff —Consignments this week bc'ng lighter, prices are rather firmer. Say for prime, L 3 7s (id to L 3 Id-, . medium. L 2 Ids to L 2 17s Gd per ton (ex truck, .sacks c\tr,i. net). Potatoes —Market exceedingly flat, best northern picked only fetching. 30s to 3.js ; medium, 2U.s to 2.1s per ton (ex stare, sacks weighed in, net). Sheepskins —The weekly auction sales are well attended and competition good. Best dry crossbivds fetching Id to IJd ; medium, 2^l to 3ld ; dry merinos, 2d to 4^d ; best green cro&sbrcds, 4s 3d to .Is 3d ; extra large to 5s (id ; medium, 3-> (id to Is eich. Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report that prices ruled as under at their auction sale on Monday :—: — O a ts — The denvind continues weak, and is fully supplied by the quantity offering. We quote: Prime milling, Is it id to Is lid; good to best feed, Is B id to Is 9d ; medium to good, Is 7d to Is 8d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat — Choice milling lines are readily saleable, but medium qunlity neglected. We offei-ed several lines of fowl wheat, which nold at 2s od to :5s Gd per bushel (sacks in). Potatoes — Freshly-picked lots are the only saleable kind, and even these can only be placed at a reduction on late values ; while medium quality is unsaleable except at bedrock prices. We sold good Derwents at 32s Gd to 37s Gd ; medium, 20s to 30s per ton (sacks in).
Chaff — The market is easily supplied at this season of the year, and the few trucks forwarded yesterday proved quite sufficient for trade requirements. Best chaff sold at L32sGdto L 3 8s ; medium to good, L 2 10s to L 3 per ton (bags extra).
