ST. JOSEPH'S BRANCH H.A.C.8.5., DUNEDIN.
The annual meeting of the above Branch was held on Tuesday, tbe 6th inst., in tbe Chris: i in Brothel's School, Rattraj street. The following were elected c ffice-baare;S for the ensuing 1 term : — President, Mr. J. O'Connor ; Viet -President, Mr. W. Carr ; S cretary, Mr. B A. Dunne ; TreHSurer, Mr. D. Mahon y ; Warden, Mr. S. Simmonds ; Gaardian, Mr. D. McDonnell ; Trustees, Messrs. Fen too, Kennelly, and J. Gxsey ; Auditors, Messrs. Oarr and Harris. Of the many useful ins'itutiuns attached to the Catholic Church in Australasia, the Htberoun Society is perbtps the best, because it endeavours to keep warm tbe faith of its members in the good old Cburcb, while it gives hope to them that if they should be afflicted in any way, the S >ciety, witb tbe exercise of that Christian charity which is its brightest gem, alleviates their distress and mnkes their hfo upon this earth not altogether devoid of comfort and sympathy. TLe aima and objects of the Society should meet with a ready response from the Catholic boiy as a whole, and they can show the r love for tnis noble institution in no better way than by joining its ranks either as benefit or honorary mem ben. The membership of the Dnnedin Branch is steadily increasing, and it is iocreasiog in a very healthy way from the faot tbat numbers of the younger men of the community are comiog into its fold. Tbe value of tbe assets of this Branch over its liabilities is now dote upon a thousand pounds sterling.
