The coroner for Southwark lately held an inquest respecting the death of Emma Black, aged six, who was alleged to have died from the effects of a fright caused by being shut up in a dark room at the Charles-street Board School, Horsleydown. The assistant mistress stated that such a thing as putting children in a dark room was unknown in the school, but the churchwarden of St. Olavc's and several of the jury declared that the practice was common at tho Charles-stroot School, and the coroner adjournuj, the ca o c for further cvidguce.
