Mb. Henby Deivee, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, reports as follows for the week ending I November 14, 1876 :— Fat Cattle. — 146 head were yarded, chiefly of good quality, nnd , all found buyer 9at a little below last week's quotations. Bullock* brought £12 to £16 10s ; cows, £8 lUs to £11. A few pens of primo , and heavy-weight bullocks realised as high as £18 to £21 each. We quote best quality beef at 35s per lOOlbs. At tbe yards we sold 30 head, and privately 150 head. Fat Calves. — 20 were penned, leally good vealersj and all sold at from 30s to 755. Fat Sheep. — About 2000 were penned, mostly good cross-breds, | which sold, in the wool, at 14s to 18s 6d ; shorn, 9d to 14s, or equal jto 3£d pei 1b for former, and 2Jd per 1b for luttcr. We sold 300 at , the yards, and 400 privately. Fat Lambs. — Only a few forward, which found buyers at from 9s 6d to 14s Gd. We have sold, at the yards and privately, 200. Store Cattle. — An active demand still continues for* well-grown, \ quiet cattle of ail descriptions. On Monday last we sold at Mosgiel, j on account of James Wright, Esq., 200 head bullocks and cows,°the former up to £S 12s 6d, and latter £6 5s ; and on Tuesday, at Palinerston, we sold on account of J. F. Kilchiug, Esq., 400 head bullocks, up to £9 5s ; cows, £6. We have also told 150 head privately. We quote bullocks at fiom £6 10a to £9 ss, according to size and quality ; and cows at £4 10s to £6 6s. Stoic Sheep. — We have no transactions to report. Wool. — We are still without advices respecting the London sales now in progress. Firtt instalments of the new clip from the early shearing sheds are coming to hand. So far as we have jet been able to judge, the clip of this season will be iv fine condition for length and strength of staple. Sheepskins. — Our usual weekly auction took place this afternoon.' Full rutes were obtained : butchers' eross-breds realising up to 5s Id ; ] dry ekins, 4s to 4s 9i ; merinos, 3s lOd. | Hides realised last week's rates. Tallow.— We sold several parcels of tallow. Inferior brought 20s to 25s 6d ; medium, 26* to 29s 6d. Brisk demand. j Grnin — The wheat is unchanged; supply, none. Flour prices I hardening. Contrary to general expectations no grain hud bern shipped Irom San Francisco when the mail left, excepting a small shipment of 4000 bushels by that vessel for Auckland. Oats are a trifle easier, more offering. Shipping demand is good, and would be increased if supplies were steadier. Presout rates, feed, 2s to 2s 2d ; milling, 2s 3d. Barley — Malting samples are dull of sale. Milling aiid feed more enquired for at 2s 6J ior the latter, mid 2i 9i to 3s for good milling. Malting, 4j to 4s Gd. Mr. Skeins reports for the week ending November 15, 1876, a» follows : — Affairs in the labor market are sound andheilth; good work is offering, but principally fur outdoor work. Farm and station take all the good men they cu.n get. Sheep shearers are settling down at 17s 6J per 100. Wiigea — Couples, £05, £70, mid £.80 ; ploughmen, £52 to £30 ; shopI herds, £60, £65, and £70 ; day labor — road, ruil, and bush, Si and 9-i ; I house girls, 10s to 15s; hotel girls, 12s, 15s, 20i, and 30s; cooks, ' barmen, grooms, &c, 25s to 50 ; bo^s and girls, 6s to 10s ; atoremen I and clerks, 30-", 50s, and 60s for ordinary. 1 Mr. A. Mercer reports as follows for the weok ending November 15, 1876, retail prices only : — Fresh butter, in h and lib print.-', Is to Is 3d ; fresh butter, m lumps, Is; powdered mid suit butter Is 2d. , The supply of fresh butter is now very plentiful, and tho fall in price j will make some of the duiry farmers go to cheese making. Salt butter ' (new season), Is per lb. Clieese, of the best quality, Is 2d ; side and j rolled bacon, lOJto lid; Colonial barns, ]a 2d to la 3d j English hams, Is 6d to Is 7d. Eggs, in good demand, at la 4d to Is (3d per doz. Messrs. M. and J. Meenan', George Street, report tho following as the latest quotations : — Flour — Large bags, £15 ; small do, £15 10s per ton. Oatmeal — £12 per ton. Pearl barley — fc'22 per ton. limn i — £5 15s per ton, including bags. Polktrd— £G 10s per ton. Chuff — £1 , per ton. Hay — J64 per ton. Potatoes — J&t to £l 10s per ton. Vezey reports for the week ending November 15, 187G : — Retail : lioast beef, 6d to 8d per lb. ; boiling do., 4il to 5d per lb ; stewing do., 4cl to 6d per lb.; steak, Gd to JM per lb.; mutton, 3d to 0i per lb.; veal, 4d to Si per Id.; pork, yd to lOd per lb.; lamb, 4s Gd ! and 03 per quarter.
