IMPORTANT NOTICE. DO NOT PURCHASE IMPORTED SWEETS. PROFESSOR BLACK report upon 14 samples of imported sweets, purchased by Sir. Lumb from various confectioners in Dunedin for analysis, and of which the following is a resume : — 14 Samples Obtained pbom Vabious Consectionees in dunedin. Noa. 419 to 432 Sweet 3 are all objectionable, owing to the large quantity of Sulphate of Lime (Piaster of Paris) or other earthy matter, they contain. The coloring matter is also objectionable, being partly Prussian Blue. I consider those far inferior to those of local manufacture which I have analysed. , ,*„ • Pbotessoe BiiAOK. again reports upon 23 Samples taken by Inspecto Lumb, from the Manufactory of MESSRS R.
