Young men and women can earn attractive salaries aS commercial teachers after completing a special one-year train- ing course at the Wellington Technical College. Some experience In office or commercial work IS desirable and preter- ence will be given to applicants, both men and women, between the ages of 21 and 30 years: Trained teachers or teachers in training are not eligible to apply_ On completion of the course trainees should find no difficulty in receiving appointments in post-primary or the secondary departments of District High Schools: The training programme, which extends over one academic year, observes the normal school holsays , Trainees are paid as follows: Men per annum women E495 per annum: Married allowance and allowances to ex-service personnel are available to those eligible. On appoint- ment to teaching positions trainees will be pald according to the teachers salary scale: This provides for variations in commencing salaries according to age sexi qualifications and experience, and goes up by steps to E1140 for men and 21065 for women for non-competitive and to E1365 for men and Pozgionfor for women in competitive positions, plus marriage and qualification allow- ances where eligible. Apply without delay to the Principal, Wellington Technical College: Applications must be lodged no later than October 31st , 1957 and a duplicate copy sent to the Director of Education, Department of Education, Wellington.
