THE FORSYTE SAGA
Sir,-May I point out that the opening statement in your article, "Another For_syte Serial’ (September 13), that Galsworthy’s Forsyte Saga consists of three novels, is incorrect? The Forsyte Saga consists of six novels as follows: The Man of Property, In Chancery, To Let, White Monkey, Silver Spoon, Swan Song. Soames Forsyte meets his death in Swan Song and that brings to an end the "Saga" proper. However, after the Forsyte Saga Galsworthy wrote a trilogy of three volumes entitled End of the Story. These three novels are A Maid in Waiting, Flowering Wilderness and Over the River. A few of the characters in the Saga also are perpetuated in End of the Story. In fact Fleur Mont (nee Fleur Forsyte) appears oceasionally right up to the end, also her husband Michael Mont. I have all nine of the-novels before me and have quite recently re-read them, Some years ago I saw Over the River as a film in London.
