Community Week
UNIOR Chambers of Commerce in Marton and Wanganui have organised comprehensive programmes for "Community Week" (September 23-29), and Station 2XA Wanganui will assist in securing wide coverage for both projects. The Wanganui Chamber will hold a Road Safety Week; Marton’s purpose is to re-start the men’s division of the local St. John Ambulance Brigade. On Sunday, September 23, at 7.0 p.m., 2XA will broadcast commentaries and results from the motor-car rally with which the week begins, On September 24, 25 and 26, a Road Safety telephone quiz will be broadcast from 2XA at 6.45 p.m. Town Topics (2XA’s daily news service) will follow up by broadcasting accounts of other activities during the Road Safety Week. Marton’s project will be assisted by a fact-finding interview on how best the St. John Ambulance men’s division can be re-started. This will be followed by reports daily, giving details of the progress of the recruiting campaign.
