IAT McNAB, of Wanganui, recently | went to California to visit her sister (they will be remembered by many listeners as the skiing Murphy twins of 2ZB), and inya series of talks called California Sojourn, being heard currently from 3ZB and starting from 3XC on Tuesday, September 4, and later from other Commercial stations, she tells listeners about her stay there. Her first talk is about fashions,.and it may come as something of a_ surprise to know that the blue-jeans-and-sloppy-look for teenagers is as dated as last year’s slang. For girls, masses of stiffened petticoats under "pretty" dresses, are the thing. Boys wear outfits like turquoise trousers and bright orange shirts, which would make a peacock blench. They cling to their very short hair-cuts for practical reasons, and also because, at a dollar fifty cents, haircuts are almost luxuries.
