Silverfish are certainly a most destructive pest, and are found not only in damp cupboards, You can use very strong moth crystals from the chemist; or sprinkle thickly with D.D.T. powder. Two "home remedies," also quite effective, are (1) to sprinkle dry Epsom salts in all crevices where they hide or are found creeping; and (2) sprinkle dry sulphur, bought from the chemist, in the same way. For dampness in cupboards ( or wardrobes) follow my Hint Book, which says: "Place a small quantity of unslaked lime in a vessel, taking care that it is not more than half full, to allow for swelling in slaking, Place in any cupboard or room where any mustiness or dampness is noticeable. When the lime is airslaked, which will be evidenced by the fact of its powdered state, it can be used for the extermination of slugs or other vermin in the garden or the fowlhouse.
