Following the Springboks
FFICIAL commentator at 3YZ since early in 1954, Bill Bardsley will te sharing the commentary on the Springboks’ match at Westport with Winston McCarthy. Bill has played as hooker for the Star senior team at Greymouth, as well as looking after the club as secretary. He can also reminisce on Army Rugby with ex-members of the 26th Battalion, with whom he served overseas. When the Springboks play Southland on July 28, part of the commentary will be done by O. J. Henderson, who has been the regular 4YZ commentator for the last nine years, Apart from Rugby, his main interest is cycling, and
as President of the Invercargill Amateur Cycling Club he has taken a leading part in the development of Kew Park as one of the finest cycling bowls in the country. He was also a member of the sports section of the Southland Centennial Association.
