News for Farmers
HE Lincoln College Farmers’ Conference, to be held on May 18, 19 and 20, will be covered by the NZBS with a 15-minute report from South Island YA and YZ stations each .day at 6.45 p.m. The reports, which will replace Radio Newsreel from these stations, will include recordings made at the conference, A five-minute item also will be included in News for Farmers from all YA and YZ stations at 12.33 p.m. on Thursday, May 19. The main topics for discussion at the conference are wool and its production in the South Island, lucerne and its place in South Island farming, and the management of farms with a high per acre production. Speakers will include W. Horrobin, chairman of the Wool Board, and B. Philpott and t Sige ard, of the Meat and Wool Boards’ Economic Service: P. D. Sears, chief pasture ecologist, Grasslands Division, S.S.1.R.; G. K. McPherson, of the Department of Agriculture; AssociateProfessor J. W. Calder and C. E. Iversen, of Lincoln College; and J. BoydClark, Christchurch. Several farmers will also speak on each subject.
