SUNDAY PROGRAMMES
Sir-Several correspondents complain of being now able to get only one programme (instead of six as hitherto) for a fair stretch of every Sunday from National stations. The new arrangement
no doubt means less expense, and would enable a larger number of employees to have Sunday _ off. I myself see no objection ‘to this latest Sunday set-up so long as the combined programme. maintains-and continues to maintain-a reasonably high standard in choice and performance. I for one am in this respect satisfied so far. The only ground for a.growl in the link-up is that the items to be played in the "Quires and Places" session ought to be but are not scheduled. Listeners have a right to know what they are to hear. There are usually only three items in the session; their particularisation should not impose grave demands on your space,
