Patti, Maxine and Laverne Andrews began their career by winning a children’s contest. The theatre band leader was so impressed he hired them to sing with his group, and soon they were hitting the high spots in vaudeville and with other bands. Their smash hit rendition of "Bei Mir Bist du Schoen" came a little later. The Andrews Sisters sing from 1ZB at 4.0. & * "The Happy Wanderer," which has achieved phenomenal = success, was, strangely enough, not popular in Germany. In 1953 the Obernkirchen Choir sang it at the Annual International Eisteddfod in Wales. Since then it has sold over a million records throughout the world, and has been translated into five languages. "‘The Happy Wanderer" is one of four songs to be heard from 3ZB at 6.30 p.m. " o ~ The famed orchestra of Andre Kostelanetz will be featured by 2ZA at 8.30 p.m. in a short selection of favourite light classics. -----_-
