GRASS CUTTINGS are a favourite breeding spot: Care should be taken therefore to see that grass cuttings are : (1) Placed in a properly constructed compost heap at once: (2) Covered with earth in a prepared trench: (This is good gardening practice). (3) Spread out to dry: (4) Put in a preparea pit and covered: (Sacking soaked in waste engine oil makes a good cover for this and also for the compost heap: Keep refuse of all kinds protected against flies. Half-hearted and incomplete measures are useless.
