who leapt forward to bridge with her own person the gap between the two salients, "Adverse criticism in a small community is wounding to the individual," and "Frank criticism is necesSary to the development of true theatre." Both discussions, incidentally, were lively and rewarding, as ‘must usually be the case when experts meet, warmed by their own enthusiasm for the subject and quickened by the knowledge of the silent barracking of unseen sup-
porters.
