"Boris Godounor"

M2USSORGSKyY’S celebrated opera Boris Godounov brings to the stage one of the most curious episodes in the history of Russia. The opera is based on Pushkin’s play and tells of assassination, intrigue, and the usurpation of power among the Russian rulers of the 16th and 17th Centuries. There are four versions of the opera, and it is the fourth, revised and rescored by Rimsky-Korsa-kov in 1906-8, which is usually performed nowadays. A new LP recording of the opera will be broadcast from all YC stations at 7.0 p.m. on Sunday, Octopet 24 (Parts I and II), and at 7.0 p.m. on Monday, October 25 (Parts III and IV). The recording is by the French National Radio Orchestra with the Russian Choir of Paris, conducted by Issay Dobrowen.
