The Deutschmeister Band was founded in 1741, the year of the birth of Emperor Josef, famous liberal ruler of the Austrian monarchy. It served as a band for the famous Deutschmeister Regiment, which was the Vienna house regiment of the Emperor, and eventually the band became part and parcel of the Vienna. musical culture. So strong was the feeling of the Viennese for this famous band that when, after World War I, the monarchy collapsed, and all military regiments were disbanded, the band — remained. The Deutschmeister Band may be heard from 3ZB at 5.45. « * * Folk music enthusiasts and anyone who likes listening to pleasing melodies, will find an enjoyable quarter hour’s entertainment, when 2ZA presents at 8.30 p.m. a group of American folk songs by Jo Stafford with an orchestral background provided by Paul Weston’s Orchestra.
