Subscribing to a blend of malapropism and buffoonery Jimmy Durante has been a figure of fun for more than two generations. Beginning his career in a Brooklyn honky tonk as a piano player cum singer of bawdy comical songs, Durante has scaled the ladder of success. Some of his best-known items are on the air from 1ZB at 4.0 p.m. * +. * The Glasgow Orpheus Choir was founded in 1901 and was disbanded in 1951. It started in a working-men’s club and for the 50 years of its life Sir Hugh Robertson was its leader. Wherever the Choir has gone it has been acclaimed. Recordings by this talented group may be heard from 4ZB at 4.30 p.m. * + * Ten o’clock this evening sees the feature "This Was the Week’ on the air from 2ZA. The particular topic concerns the destruction of the Spanish Armada.
