BBC photograph
HERE is the latest picture of June Whitfield and Alma Cogan, newcomers to "Take It From Here," the BBC variety show which has again been chosen for the "Daily Mail" National Radio Award, tying for first place with the daily farming serial "The Archers." June (left) does the talking, Alma the singing—jobs they took over when Joy Nichols left for Australia. June entered broadcasting with a salvo of baby noises and a few lines in a programme called "Focus on Nursing." She's unmarried and lives with her parents. Alma was educated in a convent. She began as a solo act when she was only 15, and got into a London musical comedy. She, too, is single.
