With Orchestra

Two violinists of the National Orches- ‘" tra, Eric Lawson (above) and Francis Rosner (below), will be the soloists at the Orchestra’s April 29 concert in Hastings. They will perform Mozart’s Sinfonie Concertante, K.364, with Lawson on this occasion playing the viola. He has played the instrument for many years in chamber music performances. Both artists joined the Orchestra in 1948. Lawson, who studied under Brodsky and Lasserson, had _ previously played in the Liverpool Philharmonic, Hallé, London Symphony, and BBC Northern Orchestras. Rosner, whose tutors were Arnold Rosé, Emil Hauser and Carl Flesch, had been leader of broadcasting orchestras and chamber music groups in Austria, Switzerland and the Middle East. The concert will be broadcast by 2YZ, beginning at 8.0 p.m. The pianist Jocelyn Walker, who appeared in a recent Listener issue, will be soloist. at the Orchestra’s Gisborne concert on April-27. She will play Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 2 in C Minor. This concert will be broadcast by 2XP, the relay beginning at 8.0 p.m.
