He turned later to dance music and was engaged as second violin in the fashionable New York Palais Royal. Later when the leader fell ill Ambrose took over and led the orchestra, In 1920 Ambrose was discovered by Luigi who | 1} opened the Embassy Club in London and brought him back to England to take charge of the music at the Embassy. He remained at -the Club until 1927 when he left to form his New _ Mayfair Band and play at the Mayfair | 1° Hotel. At the gigantic Coronation Ball at the Albert Hall in 1937 Ambrose provided a dance orchestra of 50 players and they played to over 10,000 dancers, .
